Viewing problems with ATI Radeon 9700 Pro graphics adapters

There is a known problem in running DeskArtes IDS program on machines with ATI Radeon 9700 Pro graphics adapters and older driver version. The symptom of the problem is that when drawing the geometries in IDS, additional lines are shown in the graphics window.

The problem is fixed in the version 6.14.01.6255 of the ATI driver for the Radeon graphics adapters, which can be downloaded from the ATI web-site www.ati.com.

ExTrace batch process behavior (IDS 4.5, Expert Series 6.1)

In IDS 4.5 and Expert Series 6.1 the ExTrace batch process calculation has been changed. The image is now generated iteratively (like when previewing on-screen), starting with 4x4 pixel size. The information about calculated image rows is, however, only updated during the last iteration and therefore it may seem that the process is not advancing. Typically half of the calculation time is spent on the first iterations, depending on anti-aliasing settings.

This problem will be addressed in the next version of ExTrace.

Installation instructions for WinNT version of IDS

Problem: The installation instructions for Windows NT version of IDS are missing from the "3D Solutions"-section of "DeskArtes Expert Series version 5.3"- CD.

Solution 1:

1. Download the installation instruction package and extract its contents to some directory.
2. Open the document "install.htm" into your web-browser.

Erroneous package: This error is found in the DeskArtes IDS 4.4 for WinNT installation package on the "DeskArtes Expert Series version 5.3" CD.
